Sad news: the movie has wrapped. You can't apply to be an extra and get an easy $100 anymore. :(

I just found out because I called them today to see if they had any openings next week, but unfortunately they're finished filming completely.

My roommate who had been interning there (she quit a few weeks ago) said that they originally planned to shoot through July, but that they must have gotten through filming a lot quicker than planned.

Sorry guys! Hopefully there will be other easy ways to earn a sweet $100 this summer.
Other than selling drugs, that is.... (don't hate now, it's my coping mechanism... I mean, what can I say? Half Nelson inspired me!)

We'll play standards and originals laced with freakishly decent improvisations from 6 pm until 8:30 pm at Bill's Blues Bar in Evanston. The cost is free, but the music is structured. Hope to see some of you there!

Hey guys,

Here's the information from my roommate on how to apply to be an extra in the movie "The Express", filming all summer here in Chicago.

"Here's the info:
Anyone who wants to be an extra should send
an email to Chicagobackground@hotmail.com. In the
subject line, they shoud state their age, ethnicity,
and sex. (Example: 23, female, white, "Express"
extra!)
In the email, they should enclose one photo
of themselves. It doesn't need to be professional, it
just needs to give us a general idea of what you look
like, and should be pretty current. (Don't send us a
photo of yourself with a buzzed head if you have grown
long hair since then). Along with the photo, Tell us
your name, that you are willing to work as an extra,
and the following info.: Name, age, ethnicity, sex, Phone
number, email address, and any special talents (i.e.
dance, cheerleading, football, singing, etc.), or
prior experience you may have had (Though experience
is certainly not required).
I should note: Anyone who wants to be an extra
will need to be willing to get a haircut (they are
cutting hair to shoulders length on females, and crew
cuts for guys.) Also, any date that you sign up to be
an extra, you will need to be available all day long,
as call times can be as early as 5:30am, and run until
8pm. Compensation is over $100 per day, via check in
the mail, plus food while you are on set. As of right
now, since "The Express" is a period piece, unfortunately,
they are only taking Caucasians, and some African Americans.
People of other ethnicities are still more than welcome to
send us their info, as we keep information in our
database for future films. We are always working on at
least one or two films!"

My roommate just told me about the ethnicity restrictions; I'm so sorry about that! I had no idea they were looking for people of certain ethnicities. Since I don't know how strict they are on that, I would still apply even if you don't fit into the categories they say they're looking for. You never know... I hope this doesn't dash people's hopes :o( I'm sorry, guys!

Hope some of you apply and make it in!

Please join the Magellans of music as we continue to explore the world of jazz. Hopefully we'll avoide being eaten by cannibals before we circumnavigate the jazz globe.

One of our students believes Pat's last name to be "Kong," not Gaughan. So, we, with Pat's permission, present for your consideration...

You are all invited to the Oscars Party my roommate and I are throwing this Sunday the 25th at 6pm (awards start at 7) till whenever!

We'll have lots of yummy hors d'oevres and some drinks (we encourage BYOB-ing though, in case we need to pad the base layer of booze ;-) ) Hopefully we'll get some games going and there might just be an awesome door prize for guessing the most Awards correctly...

And Yes, we want everyone to come dressed as their favorite movie character! It'll be a night of entertainment and shenanigans, and it will be totally worth it, if only to see the all-out insanity of the themed decorations Sarah's mom bought for us in an impulsive frenzy of excitement.... :-D

My roomie Sarah and I live at:

1348 W. Foster Ave.
Apt. Garden East

Corner of Foster and Glenwood, one block east of Foster and Clark. It's the nondescript brick building, our door is closest to the alley. The 92 Foster bus stops pretty much right across the street from our apt., and the Red Line Berwyn stop is only a 5 minute walk away!

Call my cell with questions/inquiries/advertisements/office gossip at: (517) 990-2315

Hope to see you all there!
